Così fan tutte -- Overture

A true presto in the era of Mozart wouldn't have been as fast as it's played today. For that reason, this conductor did a fantastic job of interpretation with the multiple tempi. As modern classical musicians, we all favor faster tempi now because our instruments allow for it, due to them having been modified over the year.

Thanks for posting this. I'm joining an orchestra for an upcoming performance of this piece, and this gives me a nice idea of what to expect prior to my seeing the sheetmusic.

Well, i like this interpretation a lot. it's very clear and the solo parts, which are the main beauty here, can be heard better...
i like the overture by the way, i think its fantastic.

why does the conductor favour the left ?surely the bass are more important?

J ' ignore le nom de l ' orchestre, si l ' on peut appeler orchestre un ratage pareil: non seulement l ' exécution est plate mais les sonorités des instruments sont aussi metalliques que désagréables , avec une étonnante impuissance à conserver aux notes leur hauteur précise !!
