As far as I'm aware, Bao Bei Ye's function is not curing disease; he is something like an accountant or a treasurer in the Netherworld ('Bao Bei' means 'Bao Qian' - to safeguard the money) . He collects the offerings that people burn for the deceased (paper money, etc), and only distributes them to the deceased if they have been model prisoners in Hell.

@jh4evacool I forget which Baobei But is either Chou,Hu,Wu one of them is a doctor in ancient china..who cure alot of people diseases and illness..to sum it up He's a doctor who went all the way from one end to another to cure people for free..

In singapore there are many bao bei ya with different surname... 周，洪，林，蔡，胡，吴，刘，沈 and some other more :) but most common in singapore is 周，胡 and 吴包伯爷！
