Polovtsian Dance (Stranger In Paradise)

Polovtsian Dance from Prince Igor, by Alexander Borodin. This is the song from "Stranger in Paradise" by Tony Bennett, which is a really beautiful song from the 50's.

I've been practicing piano for six months, so I hope I didn't screw this up too much! The score was from "Light Piano Classics", which is an excellent book for a beginner like myself.

I think most teachers recommend practising both hands separately on a specific piece, very slowly, and then combine them together.

If you're a beginner, I recommend you learn chords with the left hand, and also learn the sustain pedal if you have not already. It is much easier than it looks and radically improves the sound.

There are also many youtube videos that will teach you certain pieces, and show you the chords to play. Look for some of those.

i play cello in my youth orchestra at school, and we played this song for our concert. I just wish i had gotten to play the melody! it is such a beautiful song, i agree. you do a great job playing it, in fact, i might just go and try to play it on my piano right now!
