  • wath is the name of that song????? please. i like!!

  • @xleo21 what I meant with the laptop/PC comment was that they are pretty much all 16:9 now, with some workstation setups as an exception. The majority of the sites I frequent (there are 2 that don't) fill the whole screen. Also what I meant by similar is that when the ratio (4:3 in this case) is that close, there is not a drastic change when you rotate like there is with 16:9.. either way 4:3 is no longer mainstream...

  • @angusandleigh

A tablet is not a laptop or a pc. Stop comparing the ratio like that. You don't use your monitor in portait and you don't run full screen apps on your monitor (with a few exception).

Actually I was talking about 10" tablets , for which 4:3 is the best . 16:9 is better for 7" because the tablet isn't so big.

The web isn't becoming 16:9 , almost no site stretches all the way horizontally on my monitor.

Also , have you used an iPad? Landscape and portait are not similar.

  • @xleo21 4:3 is only the best if that's all you have, a 16:9 tablet doesn't look anymore wrong than the vast majority of PC's and laptops that are 16:9..there is no wasted space on this pave on my Playbook (from which I am typing now) and the web is becoming 16:9 because almost all new displays are or have been that format for some time now. As far as rotation goes, if your screen is more or less a square, then really what is the point of rotation?

  • @angusandleigh

I was reffering to the tablets where windows was just slapped on them and called it a day.

You clearly haven't used a tablet. 4:3 is THE BEST ratio for tablets. Unlike a display a tablet is designed to be rotated. 4:3 is the best ratio to enusure there is a reasonable vertical and horizontal space in all orientations. 16:9 tablets feel and look ridicolous.

The web isn't designed for 16:9 , if you look at this page , you will see there is a lot of wasted space on the sides.

  • @dimention6600 ...it's out, I own one, with the HDMI cable, a bluetooth keyboard and mouse... my laptop has been sitting closed and collecting dust...

  • @angusandleigh ...it's any good, it's because it's trendy. In todays society, if it's trendy...that's about all you need for the mass market, but there are those out there like me who prefer power, performance, functionality security and expandability above what my friends are buying.. and if my laptop didn't have a large hard drive in it, I wouldn't be using it all anymore, because I can do everything on my PB that I was doing on my laptop.

  • @angusandleigh ...whereas the web on a PB is full format. and saying 4:3 is better for apps, well that's because the ones you are using are designed for iPad, mine are designed for PB. an interesting thing to think about is when you play a movie on an iPad, it will have the black bars top an bottom essentially creating a viewing space about the same as my PB (which uses the whole screen) I know people will buy it, they buy it for the same reason people buy stuff from the GAP etc.. not because...

  • @xleo21 they were all 'crappy' back then, even Apples version, the Newton by todays standards a toy...and the OS on that thing was built for touch too...they all were, the 'first' tablet had handwriting recognition software built in. If i wanted to play games, I wouldn't do it on a tablet period, 4:3 hasn't been the best ratio for anything in.. well years. Most things are designed for widescreen layout (yes the web too) because everything uses it. The web on an iPad is a mobile format...
