Car and Driver comparison test of Chevrolet Corvette vs Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. American Muscle at its finest. Sadly no Dodge Challenger SRT-8 in this test.

  • Drfaticus, dude, the 5.0 fox's were outdone by the lt1 easyly. How can u argue dude, 302 windsor couldnt hang with the 350. I own a fox, and even with a stroker motor and shitload aftermarket parts, the ls family engines are just too much. Also, modular 4.6 were garbage. Against an ls1 bolt on per bolt on, 4.6 would get smoked. On dyno or in a mustang. I have nithing to say about the coyote, but still does not put ls engines to shame.

  • @fattommy16 motor trend did a test with the camaro and new 5.0.the new mustang out handled the irs camaro.so,as we see the irs on the camaro means nothing it still lost.it never took the mustang 15 years to compete.where have you been?the fox body mustangs beat the camaros.also what stock camaro beat the 2000 cobra R?none from the factory thats how many.the camaro went out of production thanks to the MUSTANG.they did it all without filing for BANKRUPTCY.

  • @drfaticus with the GM performance cars. GM was pumping out LS1 powered Fox bodys starting in 98 with 350 hp and they only weighed 3200 pounds. The block was extremely compact in relative comparison to the ford modulars, and made 35 more hp. Not to mention the T-56 6-speed. The new 5.0 is a great car, but again, fail ass suspension.

  • @drfaticus I think you're missing the point. Each car is the flagship for that motor company. Yes, the mustang is just a performance coupe, and not really a sports car, but its the best ford has to offer since the GT is no longer made. Ford is behind the times, even with the advent of the 5.0 Coyote. Live axel suspension is useless for anything other than drag racing, and even then, IRS can be set up to be just as effective. It took for nearly 15 years to design a Mustang that could even compete

  • Corvette americas only sports car? Seriously? Nevermind the Viper wipes the floor with every corvette model around the Bring.

Not taking anything away from the Vette, its a badass car and I love the LSX platform.

  • i like ford

  • A 2011 5.0 mustang would kill this Shelby lol.

  • @RextheWarmTeddyBear Why would you buy an fxx? you can't even drive that outside the track. ferrari keeps the car for you untill you ask for it for a day on the track? and you can buy a gt-r, but expect a transmission replacement every 1,000 miles. and a premium gt-r (which is the only model they offer in the U.S., not the spec V) msrp is $84,000 The z06 starts at $74k which is in a new price range. Get your shit in line you ignorant fool.

  • chevy wins again
