Once You Go Barack . . .

The art piece "Once You Go Barack . . . " is part of Yazmany Arboleda's "The Assassination of Barack Obama" exhibit which premiered in late February of 2008 but was shut down a week later.

Now, a selection of pieces from this show will be presented along with a few works from "The Assassination of Hillary Clinton" exhibit. Opening night is June 5th 2008 in Manhattan.

Just because you dislike it doesn't mean it isn't art. It's a beautiful (and funny) display of something off-the-wall and different. Who cares if he's using Barack Obama to bring attention to himself? There are plenty of artists who have used others to bring attention to themselves (Andy Warhol and his Mao portrait--no one would argue that Andy wasn't an artist).

Props to you. MY TAKE: his POV's clear in his "assassination" show. The "assassination" he talks of is by the right wing, of Obama/Hillary. The nooses, the racial slurs, these are symbols of racism, and racism is a potent silent factor in this race. The penis piece plays out the fact there's a scary black dick in the face of America in this election, and people of all colors have feelings about it, even if suppressed. By marching it all over NYC, he makes us consider our society, our history.
