With the economic downturn and now this oil spill, businesses and industries are crushed, and these people and businesses are squeezed, and need money quickly to stay afloat or to pay bills, so I understand the need to receive money quickly.

But it also seems to be a rush to limit liability by BP and the oil industry.
"this program will not simply be an open run on the BP treasury"

The effects on the Gulf, the fishing industry, Louisiana culture, and health issues will be lasting.

The information in regards to the toxic crude oil seemed to have been slow in coming, and then a rush to limit liability.

In Alaska the health issues for the cleanup crews and others were lasting.

In regards to the toxic effects of crude oil and benzene like cancer and leukemia, there also seemed to be a lot of confusion between crude oil and the dispersant corexit, possibly intentionally.
