  • @TheBritishWatcher The fact that consecutive governments have never failed to lie to us about it for nearly 40 years does not help things either.

  • On behalf of European TAXPAYERS,I hope that the thousands of European Union employees had a wonderful Christmas !

We also hope that the 45 MILLION Euros Christmas travel expenses paid to you ( by the un-elected Council of Europe)..was enough ! Don´t bother with reciepts ( well you dont anyway ) and if you need more next year, please don't hesitate NOT to ask!

    Happy undemocratic New Year !

VOTE in the June European elections for anyone willing to fight EU corruption.

  • I'm belgian, I live in the founding member of Europe so logically I'm pro-Europe, most people are here because we've never known how it is to live in a country that's not european.

  • England and Scotland are part of the UK which is 1 sovereign state, the EU is many things but its not 1 state yet. Besides the British anti terror squad and security services can operate anywhere within the UK with out having to seek permission. Far easier to trace someone within our borders than through out Europe.

Passports to leave, passports to come in.. it makes things more secure. Im sorry but i still cant see the HUGE disadvantages to displaying a passport before getting on a boat.

  • Indeed which is why it wouldnt be pratical, i was just saying i wouldnt mind ROI citizens needing to show passports getting into the country.

Having 1 driving license to be able to drive across the whole of the EU is fine with me, it doesnt change the fact if someone wants to enter the United Kingdom or ROI.. they show passports. i dont see the problem

  • lol.. nooooo the British government hasnt even bothered trying to change public opinion in that time.. The government of the day simply tries to ignore europe and hope the voters forget about it completly. Which they usually do come election day ;)

  • "It takes time to change public opinion on the EU"

    Thirty-four years and counting...

  • once again.. maybe money doesnt bother you but its alot easier for someone to be against the EU when they think their money is being wasted.. its a little harder in the case of Ireland for example where they have got EU handouts for many years to help development.

It takes time to change public opinion on the EU and its something both the government and EU has failed at here.

  • Well insulting us and wanting to see our nation broken up is hardly going to win over support for Europe.

Some feel it is an "us and them" but they are not the majority. Despite the EU being unpopular all 4 of our main political parties back the EU.. people still vote for them.

  • "They think the billions spent could be better spent here, so why give it to Europe?"

For the last time, as far as little me is concerned, the issue is not money. It's this "us" (pseudo-savvy world power wannabee) vs. "them" (clueless, ill-intended Continentals) strategy that I find both ludicrous and damaging - and I see no end for it.
