After a diagnosis of tongue cancer Lisa, a new mother, was faced with the loss of part of her tongue to save her life. She knew that she could lose her ability to talk and that her young son might never hear her voice again. But surgeons at the University of Michigan built her a new tongue.

  • God bless you. Very amazing

  • amazing .. thanks for sharing .. god bless

  • Wonderful surgery.

I couldn't see if she had mercury amalgam fillings in her back teeth, but every photo of oral cancer I've seen that shows the teeth clearly reveals those fillings.

  • @natalienat518 i'm perfectly natural without tobacco and alcohol

  • i have a tiny tiny (size of a grain of sand) sore part on my tongue. is it very very abnormal?

  • Three years ago I had stage 4 tongue cancer. The cancer was way back next to my voice box. I also had very bad left ear pain and upper left tooth pain. After 35 radiation sessions and 4 chemotherapy I am free. One more thing, the tooth and ear pain ended after two week of treatment.

  • I've had this for over 7 years and Drs were telling me it was anxiety but i kept telling them that it was making me anxious.

I'm a single mum raising 4 kids. It's been hard on them but we're battling along. I will post how my surgery goes as soon as i'm well enough.

    Cheers

  • Wow

    Hi

    My names Ange

I've been diagnosed with Lingual Tonsillar Hyperplasia.

Tumors on the dorsal (back) of the tongue.

I'm on constant pain killers as the pain is out of this world.

Especially in my right ear and right side of my face and jaw.

Tonsillar hyperplasia can be cancerous so i have to undergo Biopsies and a panendocopy within the next few days/weeks.

They haven't really given me a date but have said it will be either just before xmas or just after xmas.

  • another treatment for tongue cancer that seems very promising (and which my family member has also used) is cetuximab (erbitux). ALso those of you planning to start radiation therapy should ask about radiation stents BEFORE your mapping is done (these can spare your saliva glands from exposure)

  • what stage of cancer did this person have and how much of her tongue was removed
