  • I have watched Grahams story a number of time's by recording it on my DVR. It has given me SO MUCH information to help my own autisic children. I have two boys one 17 , and the other 3 1/2 both are in aba therapy, speech, occupational therapy, special day classes..... the 17 yr. old talks, the 3 1/2 yr. old is non-verbal.....we are also hooked up with alta regional up here in Grass Valley,CA.......It's true earlier to get help is very important!!!!!!!!.

  • We have son that was diagnosed with Aspbergers Syndrome. He met all his develpmental goals etc. He was put in special ed for over three years and made very little progress. We pulled him out of special ed and denied most of the services which has led to three lawsuits. I dont know if Graham is in Special Ed but I can tell you from experience that a kid like Graham would be better in a regular class with modifications and a tutor for homework, etc. As he gets older he will reject an aide.

  • Awesome video. Incredible results! This will be an answer to so many parents prayers and open a whole new world for so many children!!! Well done Dr. Costello!

  • 2 first thoughts on watching this. The OT services provided by the school district would have focused on EDUCATIONAL OT, so the printing or fine motor issues would have been addressed at the preschool level. Taking the educationally based services along with the private services is always a good idea as they address the educational needs specifically. And honesty and trust with your educational team is a 2 way street. You need to be as honest with them as you want them to be with you.

  • I have a son with bipolar and Asperger's, and for the longest time, I was in "fix" mode. One day, I realized the same thing you did....we work with what we have to help our children be the best they can be. It made all the difference in the world for me. I wish you and your family well. It will be interesting to see an update in 10 years from now. It seems like just yesterday that my boy was in kindergarten. He begins high school soon. It goes by so quickly.

  • You are a Great Daddy to him, just amazing. I will be taking a SonRise Start up Program on Agost, i have been doing SonRise with my son,i notice the diference, he is engaging to much more and start to talk. He will be 04 years old next month. He was dignose when he was 18 months, but i supect when he was 10 months.

  • What school does Graham attend? We live in HB and I am looking for school(not district) for our son starting kindergarten in Sept

  • Erik, I saw this movie on PBS tonight. How inspiring. I am an adult with Asperger's Syndrome; I have a college degree, my own home, and support myself through my own business. Keep plugging away; there is no reason why Graham cannot someday be an independent adult himself.

  • Thank you so much Erik. My son was just diagnosed with SID. Just starting on our journey - where you guys were five years ago. I was so overwhelmed today. But seeing your movies - the first and this update, really really helped center me again. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I wish all of my friends and family could just watch your movie so I could stop having to explain, to justify, and to convince that yes, this is all necessary. You guys are rock stars. Can't wait for the next update.

  • Thanks Erik for sharing your story. I believe my son's Dad felt the same way 17 years ago! My son will now be 21 April 29th. I understand your struggles with therapy and a special needs child! We had speech, behavior and occupational. Later we added on vision therapy too! So many challenges, but with prayer and extreme patience Myles has made some major strides. I just want to encourage you to keep trying different things. No two children are alike. Keep up the good work!
