Manic Street Preachers - This is yesterday

No copyright infringement intended, I just want to share some music that has helped me through some very dark times and periods of bereavement.

Do not listen to a word I say
Just listen to what I can keep silent
The only way to gain approval
Is by exploiting the very thing that cheapens me

And I stare at the sky
And it leaves me blind
I close my eyes
And this is yesterday

Someone somewhere soon will take care of you
I repent, I'm sorry, everything is falling apart
Houses as ruins and gardens as weeds
Why do anything when you can forget everything

And I stare at the sky
And it leaves me blind
I close my eyes
And this is yesterday

I stare at the sky
And it leaves me blind
I close my eyes
And this is yesterday

The photo is of one of the meadows in Oxford (I forget which one).

  • "Someone somewhere soon will take care of you. I repent, everything is falling apart" is such a great lyric.

  • @mrdybs I love that line too. Painfully beautiful. That's the line that really makes this song.

  • @baboon2525 Think Nicky Wire wrote the lyrics for this one, seemingly about Richey

  • @MsEfroach listen to generation terrorist up to postcards (excluding lipstick traces & forever delayed) all in one go and then you'll never feel better. I did this for ages, and know im all the better for it.

  • @SuperMegabar

ho, don't worry, I've listened to the whole album (and to all MSP albums up This is my Truth) dozens and dozens of times and I still feel differently than you do.

  • @MsEfroach If you listen to the whole 'Holy Bible' album from start to finish. You'll retract your statement.

  • What an absolutely beautiful song.

  • this seems like the truest song on the album to me

  • just an amazing sound on this record, and Richey's lyrics are almost incomparably good.

  • @golds666 Seriously? this song is sssoooo depressing. Makes me feel so empty. And yet, it is just beautiful..
