"Verbot" is German and means prohibition
-
Oh, boy! I remember this! I had trouble getting him to do what I wanted, because of the fact you had to repeat the command EXACTLY as you did when you programmed him!

Cool video. The Verbot ate my batteries.

Hey!!!! Its Obama-bot. Fix Big Government, Boy!!
-
does the motor run when programming him for you? The motor noise would often ruin the functions, often triggering on it's own motor noise!!! Also, my remote range is like 2 feet... :*(

Oh my goodness I still have my Verbot!!! I never learned how to use it because you had to program it and I was 4.

Everything was done with ONE motor - yes, one! The Tomy robots were a feat of engineering. The verbot picks up on tones of the voice rather than words. This method of tone to movement was used in the Omnibot and Omnibot 2000.
I have one of these like new. I've never tested him out though. Just have him in a display cabinet. Cool video.

Give him some fresh batteries and test him. Verbot can be fun, especially for kids. :) The downside is he has to be reprogrammed every time you turn him on.

OMG, I had one of these when I was a kid! Got it for Christmas one year. I think they were 50 bucks. It never used to do what I told it too! Still fun though!

I think that's about what we paid for this one -- somewhere between $40 and $50. He's finicky. You have to speak very clearly -- something excited children have trouble doing -- and repeat each instruction EXACTLY as it was spoken when programming. Cool toy, and I was amazed it worked after 20 years in the basement. :)
