How to make easy Cajun Gumbo. Very easy to follow directions, but you need lots of love when making Roux!

LOL - I know I say "SO GOOD" a lot! As well as other things...:)

  • @rezzyboy619 You can use turkey or chicken sausage or leave it out.

  • @Pokemon39456 No, you don't have to unless you're using a whole chicken.

  • Oh baby, you need more Roux in that gumbo, you can see its too thin...Come to SWLA home of the Cajuns for real gumbo,...not that fancy Creole version from New Orleans,...bayleaf?..what bayleaf....and for that Cumin and Tyme, we just use good ole Gumbo File' for that,...but your close to real gumbo just make a few changes.....

  • Love the Saints top that you're wearing, where can I get one from?

  • Any alternative to the sausage?

  • im gonna pick up the ingredients tomorrow, hope it turns out well

  • Sounds pretty darn good. Can't wait to give it a shot, but you should tell folks that making a good roux ain't usually something you get right the first time. I think I had to make 3 or 4 batches before I figured out just the right way to keep it from burning. (for anyone readin, when she says "don't leave it" SHE MEANS IT...) Making roux, like most southern cookin, takes a little paitence and doesn't always come out the same way all the time, but if you keep at it, this recepie sounds amazing!
