those damn fords! cant stop 'em

If it stays on for 15 seconds, that would indicate all glow plugs are good.
How long was it pluged in? Should give it at least 3 hours, and it should fire up nicelly. How cold was it it?
Is it hard to start all the time? Cold and warmed up? or only cold?

50 seconds? Whoa lol, minimum is 10 seconds, max 15 seconds.
These 7.3's will go a LONG way with proper maintenance. Just make sure you keep the coolant additives up so the block doesn't cavitate and she'll go forever!

Glow plugs wouldn't hurt. How long does the Wait to Start light stays on for?

@IDIDieselJohn you got me there

Neighbors gotta love that.

My dad has a 95 with the 7.3 turbo diesel. Believe it or not, its got 440,000 miles on the original motor and still runs strong.

@cowboy5632 Ya but do you see how many miles that truck has? and just because the truck is older doesn't mean its better a lot of those old chevy's are rusted to shit like this truck. All the big 3 trucks are good you should be bashing on the toyota and honda trucks those things are shit.
What kind of engines does ford use in their newer diesels? The older ones like you have sound sweet, the newer ones sound like shit! Are the engines different or do they just sound different? I'm a totally blind person, so I don't know.

Same engines made by International Harvester. These older ones have no turbo (N/A) and InDirect Injected, newer ones are Direct Injected and have a turbo.

@blindmotorhead what john said, and also i think its all the new emissions crap they put on that really gives it a different sound
