bechameL FANATIC,AS CHILD,HEARING "SYMPHONY IN BFLAT FOR CONCERT BAND",raised on classical stravinsky,messiaen,bartok,but HINDEMITH is a god alone,multiplying melodies unlike any other.his music is not performed,for many reasons,IT'S NOT PLAYED ON RADIO,here in phoenix,our one classical station has ONE HOUR OF MOZART,"MOZART BUFFET",AT NOON,then he is played at least every hour,ON THE HOUR,NOT EVEN WAGNER,BRAHMS,OR GERSHWIN,OR DEBUSSY,NOT LIVING IN ROCCO GERMANY,1700!!!!

NO SURPRISE THAT THIS IS BEAUTIFUL
The viola was Hindemith's own instrument, in that he loved playing it more than any other.
Sadly, this composer is not played nearly as much as he should be. He grew depressed in his later years, perhaps seeing his music less appreciated.
Someday, perhaps audiences will again grow to his music. (Music students love his works).

I know... Hindemith is a genius. Although some of his musics sounds a lot alike, so do works of Mozart and Beethoven. Hindemith is one of the few modern composers who really rooted himself in Classical tradition, so his pieces exude control. He knew exactly why every note was where it was.
