@raconter1 Unfortunately, that's usually the case.

@ncautoman57 So true...rust has been a special problem for so many of these late 50's cars...it's nice to see one in this kind of condition! Thanks! :) Jack

Nice looking rare Desoto.. Don't see many of these.

The 55-59 DeSoto is a favorite car of mine. I remember when I first saw the 55 with it's two tone paint and unusual side trim...I was smitten! This was one of the most stylish cars on the road in the late 50s, but way beyond the means of the common man back in those days.

@gajanssen1 Hey, Hi-Winder! I'll agree to that...the two and even three tone colors were very dramatic! They were the sponsor of Groucho Marx's "You Bet Your Life"...although few could afford the car, it brought it to the public's attention! Thanks! :) Jack

Nice looking car. Why did they ever discontinue the DeSoto brand name of car?

@Seattlecarnut Hey, Jason! I think there were at least a couple reasons...the economy was not so hot at the time, so there was limited money out there for purchasing upscale cars. Moreover, DeSoto in 1960 and 1961 was virtually indistinguishable in appearance from Chrysler! That's a sure death knell for a car..be just like another car..one will have to go! Thanks! :) Jack

Very, very nice. Back in the day I had a 59 Fury in the same color. Unfortunately a Plymouth was two rungs down from this beauty, but it still was a favorite of mine. I particularly like the tail lights of the 59 Desoto. This one is sure A-1 and I do like the color, maybe because it reminds me of my old Fury.

@cheddyrod Hey, Chester! Yes indeed...I remember those Plymouth Furys! All Mopars of the time seemed to have a penchant for fancy and colorful interior fabrics..and of course, those fins!! Glad I could bring the memory back for you! Thanks! :) Jack
