The bouyancy at the surface is important too. The old style hold you up right while the back style tends to push your face in the water. I would rather deal with adjusting my depth while diving more often than having spend energy to stay upright in an emergency. You might not have the strength.

There is not a "better" in terms of which to choose. There are advantages to both type of bcd. Each will offer the diver a safe, comfortable diving experience. The instructor in the video is pointing out some of the differences between the two types of units and not trying to show which is better. We are always available to answer more indepth questions if you need.

i have a wing (back inflate only) the first 3 dives it was hard to get used to, but now, i won't dive a normal bc. no pressure on my body of my bc, and mutch better controllable trim. i can stay horisontal mutch better.

wat would you say is better? im an advanced diver but have always used a jacket type but seem to find bouyancy alot harder than when ive borried mates rear inflation. what do you think?
It's amazing how the old wive's tales always seem to keep surfacing. That's something from the old days of back inflation bcd's and was more applicable to the CO2 inflator days - pre power inflator days. Remember proper inflation at the surface of a bcd is floating eyeball level at the surface with a full lung of air. Basically your face is already in the water, so the bcd cannot push you forward or face down if you use proper buoyancy.
