The human race --- a largely populated mass of organisms that can so easily become corrupt and turn against each other. Individuals race in a struggle to survive, but perhaps only the most wrecklessly devious will live in a world with a swift spreading virus in a world ruled by one law: survival of the evilest ...

Plot: A violently infectious disease spreads in an isolated town under the works of a wrecklessly experimental surgeon that is obsessed with engineering & testing the virus on private subjects. But when the contagious disease infects the public, individuals realize they must flee the town in hopes to survive. But how can you escape a virus ... that is already living inside of you?

Human Root is a student produced film for a Film Production class. However, I went above and beyond the requirements and aimed to try and create a film set environment that was as professional as possible while giving aspiring students & youth interested in crew and acting careers a place to gain experience and to network. We went through the entire process from writing a script to auditions, actor and crew rehearsals, multiple location scoutings, trying to obtain film permits and asking permission from a number of locations in hopes to use it as settings for the film. It was a very stressful and a lot of hardwork for me alongside attending school but it couldn't have been done without the incredible support from my friends from many different places, new and old of many ages. And of course, the support of my family, despite how silly the project may have seemed for the amount of work, time, dedication and money it demanded. We had 7 total days of filming, many of which that had to be rescheduled or postponed due to actor availability, crew availability, location availability and sometimes because of weather. The final film was meant to be screened at the end of the year festival but, like everything else, we finished a lot later than expected -- which was 10 days before the film festival. So a trailer was screened instead at the festival. I'm planning on working on this project through this summer and however long it takes to make it as good as it can possibly be, which will take a lot time. I found my actors & crew from a very mixed pool of people I met at Fright Fest, high school, elementary school, community support, college and friends of friends and parents of friends. And YouTube! Yes, people who only knew me as Audfaced from YouTube actually ended up coming on set to meet me and work on the team. One was an extra with dialogue/zombie and the other was a training fx makeup artist :) They happened to live within radius of where we were filming!

I should also mention .... this film was made out of a small community college in a very not-so-lively town. I say that because I want you to know that you don't always need to go to a prestigious school to create something great. It helps, but it certainly doesn't have to limit you -- in the field of film I'm sure over half of the learning is by throwing yourself out there. Try it, don't be afraid. If this is your passion, just create something and run with it, learn from it. This is what I did and I sure learned a whole lot with more learning experiences to follow.

  • This looks like it could be really cool. :D The filmography in some parts seems like it could have been a little more imaginative, but altogether, not bad!

    (And the Batman music..... win.)

  • @audfaced we still use the first three floors of that building, but yeah the other floors (4-7) were spose to be demolished.. I always wonder what goes on up there! haha. But yeah I work in the new hospital right next door of course. aww that is so cool!! keep up the good work
