@tacticalmastermind Bartering has been practiced since human society began and continues to this day, far predating the use of currency. If you are faced with a situation where you need weapons, water, food, or transportation, and gold can be used for none of those, gold is gonna be worthless.

@EmperorofCartoons yes because barter is impractical

And these people honestly think if some sort of world wide apocalypse happens and all governments collapse, people will assign any real value to rocks and metal?

The Dollar is the bubble going to pop.
-
Here's the thing. If interest rates continue to drop or hold at their present level, the dollar will drop, oil will go higher, and the US economy (being extremely sensitive to the price of oil) will continue to go deeper into recession.
If interests rates go UP, there will be another slaughter in the mortgage market, causing banks to fail and other financial mayhem, leading to an eventual collapse of the US, and possibly UK and Japanese financial systems.
So either way, the US is forked.

These guys are going to be wacked by natural causes.

Buy now. If it should drop a few dollars, so be it. The long-term potential will be enormous so why quibble about a few bucks now? Besides, I don't think silver is going to go much lower.
