My Question for the Republican presidential candidates in the Yahoo! News/ABC News GOP Debate on December 10, 2011:

The Great Sage and Founding Father Benjamin Franklin famously warned us, "Those who would give up Essential Liberty, to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

My question is: Do you agree with this statement, and if so, what will you do to defend our 4th Amendment Rights from programs like the Patriot Act, the TSA, and others, that offer a little Temporary Safety at the great expense of Essential Liberty?

  • All children under an age agreed upon by the state ought to be protected by law until they are old enough to make their own choices. So all of those children examples–they are now VOID by my previous statement.

Yes, all drugs should be legal. If you know what I know about how our own govt makes them illegal just to ship them here and put the black market in business and to imprison those who don't commit hard crimes you'd understand why too. It would be dumb to take off "In God We Trust."

  • Do you wear a seatbelt, Motorcycle helmet, bicycle helmet or ever wear a condom?

Some people would call these temporary safety measures. 3 of the 4 listed above are current laws in your state.

It's easy to get someone to conform when you make them believe it's for their best interests.

Fear based politics is as American as Apple Pie.

  • @seeker267 The decision should be made by the individual UNLESS his/her decisions affect others, in which case they ought to be bound by law to be socially responsible for what happens to others by their discretion or lack thereof.

  • @MrDeppness - I'm guessing that you believe there aren't people out there that will make bad decisions without guidance. Some people need to be told what behaviour is wrong or unhealthy. What about them?

It's sad to say but some people are a hazard to themselves.

Do you agree that it's mother natures way of getting rid of the weakest links?

  • @seeker267 Yes, there will always be people that make bad decisions. That's what freedom of choice is all about. You can make the right choice or the wrong choice but you should always have the right to choose, within reason. And if you think you know best, tell someone what you think. Use the power of persuasion, not coercion. You cannot force virtue, but you can teach and inspire it.

Mother nature does have a way of weeding out the superfluous, but not always.

  • @MrDeppness - Does this mean that you agree that American children shouldn't have to say the pledge of allegence, Or that a woman should have the right to choose abortion? How about a parent doesn't have to put their child in a car seat or make them wear a bicycle helmet?

Do you agree that all drugs should be legal?

What about taking "in god we trust off our currency" what if I don't trust in god? Should i be forced to carry it in my pocket?

All of these are a matter of personal choice.

  • hey thanks Geddy ! sorry about not spelling your name correctly , as i completely

share your sentiment 100% in public awareness of what's really happening by the hands

of many corrupt elected official throughout our Government , but u and i Geddy and

many who care will do everything that we can to inform the uninformed :)

    Thanks again

  • @starrra1 I agree! You'll be surprised though of how many millions are not even paying attention and are clueless. They're too busy obsessing over sports, celeb gossip, and other BS. It's up to leaders like you and me to awaken them. BTW, my name is Geddy!

  • @MrDeppness hay thanks ! We the PEOPLE must electorally re- invent our Gov. in 2012, Obama is a very

dishonest person , and the corruption of both parties is so very obvious to any person of free minded thinking and lives with their eyes wide open

    Thanks Gaddy

  • @starrra1 I think you get it. You're welcome. I'll try to get this up on the next debate...
