A still montage of the director and his films and well known scores used in Truffauts movies. No montage can give an artist like Truffaut the full respect he deserves but I can still try. Truffaut certainly was master of film. Especially film that delved deep in to the psyche of children. Francois is one of my very favorite artists, I'm proud to offer my trubute to him.

  • just off the top of my head was truffaut in close encounters - people think that directing is bossing people about; but its more than that it has to be, its about story telling and truffaut knew about pain especially being estranged from his mother.this pain turned into stories i guess through the medium of film was his therapy

  • Yes he was in Close Encounters. It always tickles me to death when I see him in that.

I think film really has the ability to do that for people. I was a terribly lonely kid growing up and it didn't change when i got older. Film was everything to me. It was there when I was happy or sad. It provided companionship when I felt alone. It made it possible to see the outside world when I felt trapt in my surroundings. Film became life. Something I don't think I could change even if I wanted to.

  • beautiful had me tears - its so hard to believe he is gone

  • Thanks so much :D

Its really sad to see that era of film makers passing on. Not just from the New Wave but the last of the Neo Realists and the Cinema Nuovo. I think that the motion picture industry is in its second golden age since the rise of those 3 movements in film. The first being the age that has given us Socrsese, Ashby, Polanski, Speilberg and so on..and now the current age that has been inspired by them both. Daldry, Haneke, Inarritu, Yimou, Tornatore and Salles. I hope it lasts :)

  • "I wish I would've known you, but I was just a kid..." Francois Truffaut has always been one of my favorite directors since I started studying films in the mid-80's, almost 30 years ago, already! His films are of rare genius. He was an identity that will never be replicated. I suppose that is why he was meant for the film industry. :)

  • @geoffdoor Very true, geoffdoor.Even though its nigh on 30 years since that shocking haemmorhage,it's so hard to believe he is gone.Because his films are so memorable and brilliant - seared on our retinas and craniums - we're still coming to terms with it.

  • A Great,Great,Great man...a true 'mensch'....A Man amongst Men.....I think of his films often and long and want to cry...

  • why you´ve omitted "Vivement dimanche!" ????
