What Governor Doyle's Press Release letter means to our deaf / ASL community? Why does the Federal and State Government see us as a "liability" instead of an "asset" to the society?

  • as a liability because they have to spend millions of dollars on education programs and stuff, its Survival of the fittest even todays society where humans control the enviroment we live in that term still applies.

  • yeah tap tap them to do it!! CI have to have three or more implants replacements due to updates, batteries, technology, and that s increase the dose of risks even more so i am sure most parents are thinking one time thing!!!!

  • CI only works with those 90 db loss... so not really deaf is myth... why ?? cuz medical do not want to destroy, 80 or above db loss, what s left of hearing... so...

  • Hi Barry I knew thing coming too soon time to get all of us together and start voice as one.

  • First of all, I want to read letter from Governor Doyle before I can speak out my2cents... Anyway, Discovery channel show new device that enable person to speak, similiar conception of CI; speak out what you want to say... So it is time for deaf to face reality of futuristic in medical discovery...

  • We need counter research.

We need to show most of the CI gimmicks do NOT work. Works mostly on those who were not really deaf, on those who heard well with hearing aids prior to the CI

We need to show the CI victims are STILL dependent on government, will need to go to deaf colleges, or need interpreters , notetakers, and benefits. Most are not pure hearing people. Shove the statistics back in their face and they cost more money because of the added cost of CI .

The Deaf Film Industry with the cooperation of the National Association of the Deaf should think of getting together in the near future to discuss the possibility of making a documentary film on CI children and their families to educate our hearing society the benefits and risks of having cochlear implants.
