NB: There are great interviews and documentary footages on the DVD special Features. One of them really touched my heart. It was the historical footage in the special features. It's amazing to see how Walt Disney struggled to make Snow White, to get this film on screen. Unexpected to see he did it for the sake of his Art and so for his public mainly. Obviously Walt Disney was a businessman as his Art was also depending on his business! But his business was at the time of Snow White no more than a team of 10 people, and a beloved story! Snow White! His business idea was to bring cartoon in theaters as a full length film. Amazing how he made a challenge, deciding it was to be the very 1st long feature length cartoon ever made -Short Cartoons at the time was his 'brand' (cf Mickey Mouse stories)- . But Nobody believed in it. Nobody really trusted him. Nobody thought it was a good idea? except Walt Disney who kept following his heart, Nobody knew beforehand, even before the premiere the impact it would have on the public, i.e. if it was to be a success or a disaster. Nobody knew up till someone external saw it, after one came to a pre-screening even before the film was made (when it was stlll unfinished). As an external 'eye' he saw there was great talent there and believed in its success. Walt Disney had followed not a business plan but his 'heart business plan' that is his heart desire, when making Snow White, as that was what he wanted to do and that was it ! He had experience with Mickey mouse cartoons but they were only short films. His love for his public was his goal ! (he was not doing movies for money/greed nor even business greed) but for the sake of Beauty, Achievement, for the greatest delight of his public!
As a result, historical footage shows the fact that walt Disney in a time of great depression raging over america, he was the only one who was instead employing more and more people and giving work when everyone was shutting down and getting bankrupt! He became a successful business man above expectations employing thousands of people just for the making of Snow White and on. A message to get! History is worth being taught by!
