I liked both, though Surface was almost a little too sugary. HT is a tougher version yet still soul full...

WOW! You learn something new everyday! I never knew Surface did a remake! LOL I don't think Surface did a bad job of it, personally, but that's just my opinion. The irony of PhflyDan1 's comment is interesting. Its may may true that the internet has corrosive influence, but it can be just as helpful. Otherwise, i wouldn't believe this!

Why didn't Surface release this first? I'm thinking when they produced this (from what i've read) and gave the song to Hi Tension to record and it seems to have backfired on Surface because HT's version is way better (in my absoulute opinion and others) than Surface's offering which came out later. Maybe they're both one of the same? Royalties due to the writer on both versions..

@PrAnG2000 Just my humble opinion! For me I guess the Hi Tension version was proper soulful where as the Surface version sounded more commercial. Just an opinion....

You're having a grin mate. Hi Tension released Happy 2 years before Surface released their cover version. Hi Tension originally released it in 1984 and then Surface covered it (badly) in 1986. Get your facts right dude!!

Its all GOOD ! I was just having an offline argument with some 'friends' on which version was better, Surface or Hi Tension? Either or in my books, both classics...
