== Controversial views of Protestant Christianity ==
In a 2008 message spoken at Amazing Grace Church in [Wheeler, Michigan, after stating that he was a church theologian, Dr. Barclay publicly condemned Protestant Christianity by calling Calvinism, "a condemning damnable doctrine" though the Protestant Reformation rediscovered the Gospel.
In a 2009 message spoken at Living Word Church in Midland, Michigan, Dr. Barclay stated that he does not believe in "Perseverance of the saints "Once saved always saved" and that even Charles Spurgeon, whom he respects, states, "It is my opinion", and we are all entitled to our opinion. Barclay also stated "maybe Calvinism is right, but what if you're wrong? The challenge is to live right, live clean, and serve God."
Right on Dr. Barclay! You've lived clean for decades an you're still preaching the same uncompromising word. What an awesome help you've been in so many peoples lives.
People, you are all entitled your own opinion, it's true. So learn what Calvinism is for your own self and don't be so critical of others. In my studies of Calvinism I believe it is an erroneous doctrine.

Thankful you are a student of God's Word. So many today who have no real training nor accountability to spiritual fathers who have also been great students of God's Word want to tell everyone what is right and what is wrong. Every good student like Dr. Barclay will always let the Bible interpret the Bible. Great word and a simple truth that all should live by.

Very simple truths from the bible, easy to understand, thanks for clearing that up. (not really that confusing unless you are drowning in wrong doctrine)

Why do people have to take it upon themselves to be the judges? Doesn't the bible say God is the Judge of all things?

Pentecostal response: "......once saved always saved....only later did I learn that this language was a popular distortion of Calvin's perseverance of the saints. Calvin believed (rightly so) that God enables his holy ones, his saints, to persevere to the end, and in that they were secure--eternally." Gordon D. Fee ordained Assemblies of God, helped translate NIV, TNIV and other books such as God's Empowering Presence: The Holy Spirit in the Letters of Paul and other books on exegesis.
