Residents: 3 Zebra Danios, 3 Gold Danios Cleaning Crew: 3 Amano (Yamato / algae eating) shrimps, 1 male Red Claw Crab
Plants: Anubias Nana (dwarf), Java Fern attached to bogwood, Marimo (moss) ball.
Filtering is carried out by an airpump driven undergravel filter and a 80gal/h hang on back power filter. Heater is a 50W submersible.
CO2 is pumped in every now and then via a DIY CO2 generator (water, yeast, sugar combo in a 2.5L soda bottle.) Diffuser in the end of the air line is a plain, round, bamboo chopstick.
To keep crab zealots happy one bogwood reaches out of water surface, and a table spoon of evaporated sea salt is added in every few water changes.
Infamously, red clawed crabs are escape artists. My crab, Houdini, as his name suggests, now live in a hot glued, old vertical blind cutout reinforced full hooded tank.
The light in the hood is a 18W, 8000K fluorescent light strip.

  • what fish do you reccomend for a beggining aquarist? and also wich and how many can go into a 10 gallon fish tank? i don't want to have only one type i want a variety of fish in the tank. thanks for yur help!

  • @kmscutie132 A good start point is to make through research before you purchase any fish. First, buy aquarium, filter, light, etc. before any fish. Second, cycle the aquarium for about 3 weeks before you add any fish. Danios are good fish to begin with; they are hardy fish. Find community fish get along with others.

  • What kind of under gravel cleaner is that? how much is it?

  • @tvshowuploader3 Undergravel filtering is an effective technique that's been around for 4 decades. You should do your own research on the subject matter.

Briefly, the bottom of the tank is raised 1/2" by interconnected plastic crates, gravel sits on top of the crate. Uplift tubes pumps water to surface while dirty water gets sucked in through gravel. Microorganisms inhabiting gravel degrade harmful substances to less harmful ones as the dirty water flows slowly through gravel. The price is $10

  • @kmscutie132 You can start out with fancy guppys they are good starter fish or you can just have a betta in the tank but it has to stay alone besides the females the females can live in a group of three or more :)

  • awesome tank!!! check my tank out

  • @aaronibarra400 mesh over the top of the tank, but clamped down very tightly, maybe a heavier hood, or so they don't feel the need to escape, get one of those crab oases. They'll help cut down the temptation to go to the top for air.

  • quick Question i have had about 4 or 5 red crabs but they keep escaping any idea on how to make sure they dont escape

  • @kmscutie132 thats a very good question

  • can someone help me, im getting a red clawed crab, and i dont now if its freshwater or salt water fish?

  • I wish my tank was as pretty as yours - great job!
