The City of Light-Episode 32

Miranda smiled as the eight walked into the room. "Good! Debby found you then."
"Uh, yeah," Kendall said, sitting in one of the available chairs. "So... meeting."
"Yes," Miranda sighed. "Allow me to introduce my advisors... you guys, of course, already met Laura..."
Laura smiled and waved at the two of them.
"Over here we have Tessa Delisle, the head of the army of Lucis, and her assistant, Fatima Lowry."
Tessa rolled her eyes, scanning the eight up and down.
"And finally... Emma Gaudier."
The girl, Emma nodded in their direction.
"And for Tessa and Emma... these are Kendall Knight, Rose Bennett, James Diamond, Megan Wallace, Carlos Garcia, Alyssa Jenkins, Logan Mitchell, and Victoria Edwards."
"Nice to meet you," Emma whispered kindly, barely turning a head in their direction.
"Yeah, nice," Tessa scowled, turning to Miranda. "So, Miranda... what did you bring us here to talk about, and why are these kids here!?"
"These 'kids' are the reason we're meeting, Tessa," Miranda said patiently. "Laura just brought them back... from the rebel camp. They're originally from the Capitol. We think... we think they might be the heroes in the prophecy."
"Well, you certainly don't mince words," Kendall muttered. "More introduction might have been nice..."

"The CHOSEN ones!?" Tessa shouted. "Of the PROPHECY!? What, an old wives tale? Like I REALLY believe that Lucis needs saving! We're safe here! Plus, we have my army if anything ever goes really wrong!"
"First off," Miranda shot back, coolly. "What happens if OUR army every fails in some way? Maybe saving the world isn't something an army can do... maybe the world can only be saved like something small..." Miranda smiled at Rose. "Like a Redvine."
"A REDVINE!?" Tessa shouted. "You're kidding me! Seriously, Miranda! This is just utter ridiculousness!"
"It's is not!" Rose protested. "Redvines saved out lives once!"
"Yeah, and that's great and all kid, but seriously... this is the real world we're talking about here," Tessa sneered. "And in the real world... Redvines don't help any."
Rose gasped. "What are you SAYING!?"
"I'm saying that Redvines aren't the type of thing I want my city to rely on for saving!" Tessa shouted. "Or a bunch of kids! It doesn't matter what some dusty old prophecy says... that's not the real world! THIS is the real world! Protecting us from Taylor Calderon is the real world! And now... if you'll excuse me... I'VE GOT TO GO DO SOME SPYING ON THE CAPITOL OR SH*T!" Tessa got up out of her chair, signaling to Fatima. "Come on..."

Fatima got up, batting her eyelashes and giving Carlos a small, flirty, wave on her way out.
Carlos just sank lower in his chair and tried to hide, while Alyssa glared at the girl.

"I'm sorry for that," Miranda sighed, as soon as Tessa left the room. "She's not the friendliest person in the world in the best of circumstances, but after just getting back home five minutes ago, and then me telling her that I'm sending her back out to spy on Taylor Calderon..."
"Oooh, not a happy camper," Laura grimaced. "Anyways, where was Tessa? She was still here when I left to get these guys."
"I sent her on a mission... she's extra upset because she lost a few people. Taylor found them, killed four of her solders. They were her friends as well, which makes it really awful."
"Oh my gosh, that's horrible," Laura sighed. "But still, she doesn't have to be such a b*tch about it."
"Laura..."
"I'm sorry!" Laura protested. "You KNOW she annoys me! It's just... yeah, she bugs me."
"I wish you two would just get along," Miranda muttered. "I've known the two of you since we were twelve!"
"And now we're twenty, eight years later, and I STILL think she's a f*cking b*tch!" Laura sighed. "It's not going to change! Get over it, Miranda!"

"Wow..." James said. "DRAMA! Anyways... LAURA! Have you seen my cool cast?"
