Skilled soccer players are able to bend the flight of a soccer ball after kicking it, allowing the ball to curve around other players. We explain the physics behind this technique so you too can "bend it like Beckham".

  • Wow. ;)

  • Nice video man!

  • Beyblade

  • stop making FOOTBALL so complicated you ameicans

  • it about how u kick it were on your foot you kick what part of the ball you kick it and the follow though not just kicking it on one side

  • with wich program do you make this?

  • What a scientific explanation to curve a ball.

  • he laughed when he said "but maybe one day youll bend it like bekham"

whats that supposed to mean :(

  • The science here is wrong. A ball bends because spinning a ball alters the direction that the wake behind the ball travels in. This video shows no difference in the direction the air travels in behind the ball (the red/blue arrows). Newton was right when he said "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction". If the ball goes one way then something must go in the other. In this case it's the air. You spin the ball, the air goes one way the ball goes the other (aka "Magnus effect").
