@TheFunkyHomasapian Most Mac apps have their own software update mechanism. Apple doesn't allow 3rd party apps to update via the main Software Update mechanism (which is silly). If you're worried, just download the latest version manually from the from the firefox website.
I agree also I have a question, earlier today firefox prompted me to update to version 10. It did this via a pop up and was not viewable from the software update is this normal or what I am on a Mac book pro with lion I choose not to install as I was afraid of a virus what should I have done? It told me to do so at login and also when I was watching a YouTube video.
