Rick Parks, the organist of the Wurlitzer theater organ at the Elsinore Theater in Salem, OR was nice enough to demo and perform on this amazing instrument after Hotel California's performance earlier that evening. Too cool!

  • Great video. Rick and Clayton are super nice folks who (among others) saved the whole place from the wrecking ball, not to mention installing (donating) that instrument for the public to enjoy. They have taken me all over the place, from the boiler room, up the old creaky stairs into the pipe chambers above the stage. Rick is an expert silent film organist. For being put on the spot and not being warmed up, I think he did pretty good here. He plays better when he is warmed and loosened up.

  • that funny little coupler was a blackpool coupler XD odd beastie

  • Nice! I didn't even know there was a pipe Organ in there (i live in salem). I've never even heard one of those live.

  • That horror music is just incredible!

  • When I was in middle school we took a tour (back when they were in the early stages of restoration) and he played the Cantina Bar music from Star Wars..... God, it was amazing.......

  • I like the trick coupler.

  • i took one of my friends to a church to hear me practice playing the organ, he had never heard one live, and he`s into the hardcore techno stuff and thought there was nothing better. He started crying when i cstarted to hit the big chords on the organ, i was amazed.

I plan to do this with the rest of them.

  • I've been here for silent movies and for theatre-organ concerts many times... LOVE this place!

I always get a kick out of watching people react in amazement when they get their eyes and ears on a theatre organ for the first time :)

  • same here, too much percussion. He should have used the organ to its full extent.

  • That was pretty good ,except for playing the traps to much. Rick could have done more demonstration with the actual organ itself.
