  • I think if he didn't suffer that almost fatal crash in Hockenheim, he would be the 1982 F1 champion, because Tambay said that Ferrari'ss car that season was good to drive.

  • Excellent - great to see the Ligier JS11 in action, gotta be one of the most elegant F1 cars of all time!

  • Didiiiiiii is the best!!

  • It was so tragic and sad that he had that incident with Gilles in San Marino 1982,because I believe that this incident was the doom of both of these superb drivers. It was anger towards Pironi that ended Villeneuve´s life and it was karma that ultimately cost Pironi the 1982 F1 WC title and quite possibly ended his life in 1987.

  • The thing is that Villeneuve was sort of naive against Pironi, taking their relation for granted and when the Imola issue happened, he simply couldn't believe it. I also liked the 1980 Ligier pairing with Laffite and Pironi. But you are right. To get to the top, if you're too much of a nice guy, it will be only harder. As for Schumacher, everybody knows his genious and flaws...don't they? :)

  • I agree, Pironi was a cold and ambitious driver but you have to be to win FI races..I think he's the most underrated driver of all. My favourite Ferrari pairing was Pironi and Villeneuve so for me 1982 is a very sad year. I think you might have opened a can of worms with your Schumacher comment!

  • I'm not putting Pironi down, but he was a cold fish that had only 1 objective. As for Senna, you are right to state the 1990 Japanese GP, and other situatuions also, he was no angel. As far as the alltime king of this category, well look no further than Michael Schumacher, the absolute worst cheat in the history of the sport.

  • I respect your view...but in that case Senna was also underhanded for winning the 1990 crown after taking Prost out of the Japan grand prix in Suzuka. That was far worse than what Pironi did at Imola - but Senna's not underhanded and Pironi is.

  • A great driver for sure, but in a way, underhanded.

  • great tribute to a great driver

  • i love the old ground effect cars. so low to the ground and they ddin't need front wings for fast tracks, they looked fantastic
