Do you receive your belongs back after he takes them? I have many valuables from side quests that I don't want to lose when I take on this part.

@SnivelyTheGlamful What I did was just drop all my stuff before i talked to him, that way I didn't have anything for him to take, then just picked it all back up after the conversation was over :)

When I enter the cave the guy greats me with the ' dawn is coming.' He doesn't open the door for me though. What did I do wrong? Do I need to steal a robe off someone

Check the Oblivion wiki site. google oblivion wiki, first link, then search for dagon shrine. It will tell you everything you need to know about the place. It's been so long that I can't remember, sorry!
