Another homebrew Wednesday on a Sunday video .. this time I'm brewing with Briess dry malt extract ( DME )

I also used some specialty grains such as Special B , Caramunic Malt & Wheat along with cinnamon bark and cinnamon sticks and even grains of paradise!

  • One handed camera skills! Do you find that the degasser aerates the wort well enough for these big beers? I'm not happy with my aeration pump, and I need to get a degasser for mead anyway.

  • @arrogantbastardale haha thanks, ya the degasser works really really well, i never brew without it... that coupled with the starter on this beer had my airlock going off within 8 hours!

  • Great vid! Thanks!

  • @Imasofat thanks ,cheers and buys da beer!

  • great vid so this is gonna be a red hots ale???

  • @mikey2cool i added it late so its mostly for aroma .. didn't want the beer to be spicy i just wanted that cinnamon smell :)

  • @zodiak3000 haha you caught me! the reason i used a starter for this one is because i'm gonna secondary it for a month and then bottle it. i was gonna just double pitch but i was being cheap and as you see from the video of i have tons of DME sitting around so i figured what the heck. plus, 4 years in 11+% alc the yeast is gonna be hurtin at bottling time, im trying to avoid having to repitch at bottling too.. so the starter should do the trick ;)

  • nice video using extract man. and wait...what was that i seen? a stir plate with a starter? i could have sworn you commented a few vids back that you never used or needed starters. good looks...
