  • Let me guess, the oboe player with a "masters" degree in music decided bagpipes would be easy since they don't have keys.

  • It was actually a hired piper. Poor choice, no demo I guess.

  • i'll admit, i haven't laughed this hard in a LOOONG time....but i do feel sorry for whoever the bagpiper was, and the orchestra, i'm sure they were very sincere about making their conductor happy playing a piece...that was WAY past their abilities. condutor's need to check their egos.

  • I sincerely think that some people would ne' er put their fingers on a chanter, at first the game is to put fingers on the hole and not aside, and the worst, not to play before an audience, poor image of my beloved instrument, and an insult to the orchestra

I wonder how some can dare do broadcast such an horror

Jean Michel, Breton piper for 42 years, solo player and pipe teacher

  • stopped after the first 8 seconds

  • Oh dear, I had to stop this video after only 24 seconds. It hurt! Poor piper, I do feel sorry for him. Particularly if he hears this...

  • AAAHHH! IT HURTS!. MAKE IT STOP MAKE IT STOP

  • The thing that's sad about this song is that the rest of the orchestra is really good.

  • I think you need a special chanter to be in tune for this. I feel for the piper. The orchestra ain't great... and pipes routinely tune at about 478-480...

  • it might well be that the piper hired was playing in the wrong key... i played this piece in a concert just last week, and we had to print transposed copies of the last page for the entire orchestra so that we wouldn't be playing a semi-tone out with the bagpipes the whole way... it might be that that's what's happened here, or it might just have been a shitty piper, who knows :L

  • If you survive this, you will be married for the rest of your life......

  • so, which bar did you pick this "piper" up from? and after how many gallons of whisky?
