  • Would it be advisable to use Dehydrated cow manure to slowly add to my bin? I have a bag of it laying around from this summer and if I could use it up in both my Euro and my wiggler bin then I'm all for it.

  • Hi - yeah, I would test it out a small amount at a time. You might want to mix it with some water and shredded cardboard and let it sit for a few days first. If it happens to be steer manure it may have a lot of salts in it, so definitely good to try a bit before going too crazy.

Any manure I use tends to be stuff that has aged outdoors for a period of time - I never use store bought bagged stuff (but I've never tried it so can't say for sure how good a food it might be)

  • how long does it take before i can have worms for sale.

  • There are a huge number of factors that determine this. Generally speaking, it will likely be at least a couple of months.

  • can you feed vegtable oil to the euros?

  • Oils are definitely not great to add to worm beds. Worms breathe through their skin and oils will impede respiration. They also take time to break down.

  • European nightcrawlers really are prolific. After two weeks my 100 euros had laid over 200 coccoons.

  • Thanks for the response. I will try it out, but I just came across a local supply of aged, composted horse manure. 15 dollars a truck load, I think I will try a few bins of that mixed with newspaper and cardboard and scraps.

  • Hi,

Worms can release cocoons at any time. They don't even have to mate in order to do so. Each mating session basically fills their sperm storage vessel, and they can then just go on creating cocoons until the sperm runs out. I've seen worms add lots of eggs right after adding them to a bin

  • How long will it take to get cocoons after you first put the worms into their bin? btw i have euros
