Drascombe lugger over the sands at Broadoak, tidal River Severn. End of video shows how smooth the channel was that most boats used!!!

  • I like to see examples of the strength of the tide. Nice video.

  • Hi, We can get up to 10 knot tides. Bit like a magic carpet!! 45 - 50 miles in a day. ie Lydney - Clevedon and back. I did see a picture of 20 knot tides off Norway recently.

  • That's true in everything in life. We always have a good turnout though.

  • The point is to be in (the wide) channel. Come if you wish to - not if not!! This is a popular event and we get returners.

  • It is not the route that the rest of the fleet of some 10 boats took. The channel shown at the end of the video was smooth. The occasion was the Ring Trip - Lydney to Gloucester - we are running another this August. In the defence of the boat shown - he had outboard engine problems which made it more difficult to be in the right place.
