Dissecting a Squier and mods

I did say in the video, something like "if you're the type of person that just likes to play, then just get a better guitar. There are lots of people like me, who enjoy taking things apart and tinkering with guitars. That's part of the fun for us."
The parts came out to less than $150. Even adding the price of the Squier, that still wouldn't have got me a real Fender.

i have the exact same guitar. i dislike the tapered neck. i do like the smaller body, it's lighter and more comfortable to play. i'd sell you the neck of my guitar if you're interested.

I have modified an Affinity too. I changed the neck first because I wanted 22 frets. Then, changed the switch and upgraded the pots to 250k's. The pickups, Lace Sensor Gold. The bridge is the only thing stock. I did go for graph tech saddles and it now has a trem setter . I agree that if you like to take stuff apart get you a Squier and have fun. I also have a Squier Stage Master which I upgraded with Dimarzio Pickups and it is one of my main gig axes.

@OsainteveO Wang, trip, hole deepening...that's a lot of info ;)
I have a friend with access to some heavy machinery so if I go this route maybe he can, er, clip some off the end for me. Thanks for the quick reply.

@OsainteveO Thankz dude ive been looking at the EMG DG-20 the David Gilmour signature, They are a tad expensive but seem to sound awesome think I may go with them.
OsainteveO thanks dude, yeah im having problems fitting bridges and necks onto the squire, fender built the Squires so you cant chop and change the guitar with the Fender Strats. Looks like im looking at custom necks. Brian Eastwood lives round the corner from me might drop him an e-mail see if he can build some parts for me ??

I did manage to fit this Squier's neck on a Mexican Telecaster and it played OK.
An inexpensive Vernier Caliper can give you some very accurate measurements on the neck and pocket.

Hey my friend i want to ask if these turned out well, i'm planning to get an affinity strat and keep only the neck and the body so i wanted to know how good they are? Is the body resonant? And how comfy is the neck? Thanks

It turned out OK. I bought it mostly to tinker with.
If you go to my other Youtube channel, 1sainteve1, I did a few videos with this guitar.

Great video. I just picked up an Affinity from 2000 for $30. I will be doing the mods you listed plus one or 2 more. Question: Does the trem block stick out the back? I heard they are 1/8" too long for the Affinity. How did yours fit?

Yes, it sticks out (one of the many things I forgot to mention in the video) because the body is thinner. It's workable, but I was concerned about getting my wang caught on it, so I had a friend at a machine shop trim it down (the block, not my wang). I guess you could do the same thing with a hacksaw if you were careful. I also had to deepen the holes for the springs afterwards.
