1/9/2011 - as the Carnival Pride departs Baltimore Harbor, she must pass under the Francis Scott Key memorial bridge ... it's a tall bridge, but the Pride is a pretty tall ship! Watch as the mast and funnel of the Pride appear to pass "DANGER CLOSE" under the bridge!

  • This can explain why large ships like the Oasis of the Seas cannot sail out of Baltimore. Right now Royal Caribbean only sails the Enchantment of the Seas from Baltimore. But Im leaning towards Carnival Pride for my first cruise since its cheaper. Also what time did the Pride go under the Key Bridge?

  • @MrWill1985 OASIS of the SEA is a much larger vessel... There is a video on YOUTUBE I have seen somewhwre that shows the OASIS in port at Nassau alongside one of the other PRIDE CLASS ships ... it dwarfs it! No way it could make it under the Key Bridger!

  • @MrWill1985 This was our first cruise and my wife and I both enjoyed it! I would give a big thumbs up to the Carnival Pride. We had stateroon 4237 with one of the "VISTA" wrap around balconies ... it was great ... huge balcony for just the 2 of us!

  • That was sick! I was on that cruise...I posted the "drunkin pride dancing". Yeah, that was NO 12 feet !!

  • @MrWill1985 you are correct ... the video was shot at the time of our departure from Baltimore en-route to Port Canaveral. It deprted Baltimore at 4:30 PM (afternoon) on 1/9. The footage you see of us crossing under the key bridge was made just after that departure ... in the evening ... not the morning!

  • @pa77083 From looking at the itinerary for the Carnival Pride it doesnt arrive to Port Canaveral until Wednesday morning at 7am after leaving the Port of Baltimore at 4:30. So it does move slower then many think it would. And from looking at the Itinerary the Pride doesnt arrive to Port Canaveral until Wednesday. Nassau Thursday. Freeport Friday and back to Baltimore at 9am Sunday. So Sunday when returning you probably already be in the Chesapeake Bay when waking up in the morning.

  • Right now the only cruise ships I know sail out of Baltimore are the Enchantment of the Seas and the Carnival Pride. The Celebrity Cruises Mercury used to but that ship was sold off. So that leaves only 2 ships to sail out of Baltimore that I know of. Unless another Cruise line now runs out of Baltimore and to me all US cruise lines should consider it. Especially Princess Cruises. As far as my first cruise. Im considering the Carnival Pride to avoid air fare and airport security.

  • O man that was close! I took a cruise on Carnaval WAY back in 1987 I think. Good times.

  • @MrWill1985 The Pride left the dock that Sunday at 4:30PM ...it was January 9th so it was getting dark fast ... even though a short distance, I think this was between 5:30 and 6:00 PM
