My best friends father told her that when he was in the marines he would be traveling by navy ships and there was a fellow who would go up to the crows nest with bagpipes and play Amazing Grace. He would be below deck and would hear him playing and he would go the the upper deck to listen. He said he thought that was beautiful and he wanted that played at his funeral. Well, several months after he told her that he was hospitalized in serious condition and as the family was at his bedside and the realization that he wasnt going to make it hit me this song was birthed. His daughter Teresa Turner sings this song and she had bagpipes play at his funeral and it was beautiful

  • I am so sorry for your loss. This video really touched my heart. My Dad is a disabled veteran/Marine from WW11. I do play the bagpipes and played him Amazing Grace. WE then watched your video together. He was very touched by the photos of your father.

Thank you for posting this nice video slide show for us.

  • Thanks for the nice compliment, and compassion. And I agree with you, Our Fathers generation will never be surpassed or even matched.

  • Nicely done.

It saddens me with the loss of each member of this generation if it were not for the boys who went overseas in the '40's (Father included) this would be a far different world today.

I fear men of this caliber will never walk the Earth again.

  • What a lovely tribute to your beloved father. Awesome!

  • Hi, am from Aberdeen in Scotland and we have the bagpipes at weddings and funerals, wherever I am overseas when I hear the pipes it always gives me a lump in my throat and fond memories of loved ones at home in bonnie Scotland. Sorry for your loss.

  • Make ye eyes mist a wee bit. Beautiful song, both lyrics and music.

    May he rest in peace
