William Faber, an English convert to Catholicism wrote this and other beautiful hymns which today can be found in both Catholic and Protestant hymnals.
The Eucharist is the most sublime of sacraments. John 20:28 Thomas answered, and said to him: My Lord, and my God

Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all,
How can I love Thee as I ought?
And how revere this wond'rous gift,
So far surpassing hope or thought.
Sweet Sacrament, we Thee adore.
O make us love Thee more and more!
O make us love Thee more and more!

Had I but Mary's sinless heart,
To love Thee with, my dearest King;
O with what bursts of fervent praise,
Thy goodness, Jesus, would I sing!
Sweet Sacrament, we Thee adore.
O make us love Thee more and more!
O make us love Thee more and more!

  • Beautiful though some of the sound was not as good as it could have been, so the lovely violin was not heard like it should have been.

  • @josparkes1 - thanks for the kind comment - unfortunately I only have this low quality tape at the moment. It's such a lovely hymn that I do plan to record again in high quality. I have a friend nearby, a Lutheran minister who counts this as his favorite so I hope to connect with him soon, maybe this summer, to make a new recording.

  • Thank You for your beautiful music, indeed a great gift from God. God Bless you always. I used to sing this hymn when I was younger. AVE MARIA

  • @GalwayRose1 - thank you for your kind comments. This has long been my favorite hym...so simple yet so beautiful...God's influence in the music is unmistakable

  • This is a wonderful video -- the music is sublime. Is there any way you can filter out that awful background noise? What was going on?

  • Thanks for your comment on the video - Unfortunately the audio was captured by a friend and you are hearing noise from the kneelers being moved during Communion.

I do have plans to record this piece soon with a friend of mine and will post the new version soon

  • Just like almighty god, I like the smell and smoke of the incense in the altar, it makes me feel that god is presence around there....

  • WHAT a beautiful song! Wonderful violin playing! and the photos...wow! I especially liked the one of the priests kneeling in front of the Blessed Sacrament w/incense in the air...great lighting! Also, loved the pic of sun streaming thru the clouds. AWESOME! a great presentation! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! We used to sing this song at Saint Joe's in Moorhead, Minnesota, back in the early 60's...too bad we don't hear it as much anymore. wah!

  • Lovely hymn but the background noise was maddening!

  • @guarneriviolinaddict Never mind, it is a very lovely hymn and you are obviously a wonderful player and musician so take this praise as well deserved !

  • For those who do not understand or do not know of Jesus' true presence in the Holy Eucharist Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, please read from the USCCB-NAB John 6
