This is a full playthrough of the Enhanced version of King's Quest VI for Windows 3.1.

The Enhanced version of King's Quest VI utilizes a 640x480 resolution, twice that of the 320x240 resolution in the DOS version. The main improvements over the DOS version are smooth, better drawn images of the icon bar, inventory items, and closeups on the characters faces.

For better quality, add "&fmt=18" to the end of the URL.

The music in this playthrough comes directly from the King's Quest VI Soundtrack, and therefore sounds much better than the basic MIDI output on most computers.

This will be a more exhaustive exploration of the game, rather than a direct walkthrough. During my first visit to each screen, I spend much time clicking the various commands all over the screen. However, this is actually a very efficient solution as far as traveling is concerned. For example, I will use the magic map only 13 times, which is the minimum number required to get the top score.

  • I've been wondering: in the scene when the narrator says, "Alexander's heart starts beating again in his chest", was that speeding-up heartbeat the ending of "Alexander's Suicide" in reverse?

  • @angeldeb82 On the suicide, I hear strings being pitch bent downward, while on the resurrection, I hear a harp playing an ascending melody. So they aren't quite the same tune.

  • @shadyparadox I see. Well, thanks. BTW, was that ascending harp from the "Final Fantasy" opening, or no?

  • @angeldeb82 I would assume it would be original, but I can't say for sure.

  • @thomas489 Yeah I think it does.

  • @shadyparadox Well, anyway, thanks for your help.

  • 3:40 Except the color, does the blue lamp slightly resemble Jeannie's bottle?

  • @Yossitaru Yeah, I see. I haven't read the King's Quest companion in a while, but I do remember that, in it, Alexander noticed similarity between the boy in the water and the old man from the get-go. At first, he assumed that they might be related and the similarity was a family resemblance, but he became more suspicious as time went on. Well, nice chatting with you and catch you later.

  • @Falchion1984 It was a foolish lapse of memory from too many years since playing the game and failing to recall the first part of this very video. For both the scene in the Pawn Shop and at the end of the short path, Alex somehow finally comes to the conclusion that the robbed man and the genie are one in the same.

It's a little more explicit on this path, what with him having ample chance to question him before taking the fake poison.

  • @Yossitaru Pardon me if I'm prying, but why take down this comment?
