Gavin Hoey explores with the use of the smick.co.uk 3 head super softbox continuous lighting kit to take portraits. The kit is powerful and versatile, this is an alternative to studio flash for taking portraits, the main advantage is that you see what you get.

The kit uses energy saving compact fluorescent daylight bulbs which means that they produce great light and not much heat compared with tungsten redhead type lighting. It can be used as video lighting as well as still photography making this a very versatile bit of kit. www.smick.co.uk

  • i was wondering what is the white background you're using when shooting in studio? is that muslin? the size?

  • @TheZiggiization Vinyl 3 metres wide

  • what type of kit was it? where can one purchase it?

  • @hemjest There is a clue on the beginning of the video and also in the description and in the commentary

  • Thanks Gavin I have a question. Why didnt you point the back softbox to illuminate the background instead of aiming it towards the models hair? Thanks

  • @ashkibala1 If the light was pointed at the background then it would not remain black, its pointed at the hair to define the subject from the background.
