Detailed video information below, please read:

DEMONSTRATION: Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor
ADDITIONAL PEDALS: Boss OD-3, Boss BD-2, Boss RV-5, Boss CE-5, Line 6 DL4
AMP: Line 6 Flextone II
GUITAR: Les Paul Standard in 'Transparent Blue'
SONG: 'Coriolis Effect' by Vinyl Future

This is a demonstration of the Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor, the video aims to demonstrate the noise produced by the addition of effects pedals to your chain (especially evident when using multiple overdrive/distortion/boost pedals) and how the Boss NS-2 can be used to effectively eliminate such noise without compromising your guitar tone.

I will play the same riff numerous times with and without various pedals to demonstrate the difference each pedal makes to my tone and to show the noise from the guitar amp as a result of adding various pedals.

The riff is from a song called 'Coriolis Effect' by my band Vinyl Future. A rough recording of the full band playing this song can be found using this link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dgH0_-eTzI

(0.00 -- 0.23) Clean + RV-5, DL4 and CE-5

(0.26 -- 0.36) OD-3, pay attention to the amp buzz caused by the addition of this pedal

(0.37 -- 0.51) BD-2 + OD-3, pay attention to the huge increase in amp noise caused by this pedal

(0.53 -- 0.55) I hit the NS-2, the noise is completely eliminated.

(0.56 -- 1.06) OD-3 + NS-2

(1.10 -- End) BD-2 + OD-3 + NS-2

  • i have a question. i have a metal muff going into a noise suppressor on my pedal board. the noise gate dosn't mute the feed back coming from the metal muff pedal. should i connect it to the FX loop on my amp head?

  • You cold try yes, it may not work. Feedback is probably more likely to be due t the settings on your Muff. Try rolling off the gain a little.

  • does it silence feedback?

  • It can do if the correct settings are dialled in. It may affect the overall tone in this case however
