The video has been made with Blender and OpenSteer. The combination of these packages makes it possible to both model and simulate simultaneously in real-time. The actors you see in this video react to the modelling decisions directly while the modelling steps were performed. The video has been entirely made with Free Open Source Software. • Do you code this project on C++ or Python?

  • @TheMerethir

Hi, thanks for your interest. The simulation code has been written in C++, based on OpenSteer + an interface has been written in Python to get the simulation results into Blender, a 3d modelling app. Be sure to check out the page mentioned in the description if you're interested and have a look at the sources or try the app yourself.

  • @aoThms

So the only language I can use to write an interface (in Blender) is Python, right? Sorry for the noob questions, but I have never dealed with it.

  • @TheMerethir

That's correct, Blender has a Python API that is documented quite well. Technically I guess it'd also be possible to adjust the blender source code directly, but doubt whether that's more convenient.

  • its some probs with the link or site

    cool prog anyway

  • He thanks :), didn't expect views already. The link should work within a few hours though.

  • neat little shapes :-)

  • Nice clean render and interesting.

  • Goeie shit ouwe ;-) Nee, serieus nice, petje af. Ook die banner op je site, mooie dingen met sfeer enzo.

  • That's pretty cool. At first I was thinking "what in the world is going on?", but as it went on I can see now how useful this could be in different settings (herds, sidewalk folk, floating rubber ducks in a stream). Nice render btw, good simple tone scheme.
