Four attempts to replicate the famous Alfred Hitchcock 'Vertigo' Shot.
This effect is achieved by simultaneously moving the camera forward while widening the field of view.
By doing so, the subject remains constant in terms of distance, while the background appears to recede.

  • ah did you used a dolly and a focus assistant? ...

  • look at the wonderfull one on * la haine* made by matthieu kassovic

  • Nice stuff. I liked the second and fourth the best. Film geeks rule, that is all.

  • If you could get rid of the camera shake, these would be MINT.

Btw, is this in the hallway of one of the dorms at UNCSA?

  • its better on a dolly you'll need to have the same speed as ollying and zooming to get that clean effect

  • Check this one, featured in La Haine:

    Vertigo Shot La Haine

  • This is not to bad, but need to push forward while zooming out more or vice versa for the reverse effect.
