This is 100% real, I actually met Mr.Brainwash at Art Basel in Miami, and he was even wearing the same silly hat he always has on.

@pandashiza I'm not doubting that he is real. But the whole second part of the film where Brainwash goes out to make all his stuff seems super staged. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the first part but the french man annoyed me, didn't take art seriously, and it seemed like Banksy was trying to send a message about how corrupt and stupid people are about art. Whether he did that with a real story or a planted story we don't know. Either way the message was effective

i think it was real. it doesnt surprise me that a bunch of people spent a shit ton of money just because a newspaper said it was "genius art". people spend ton of money on stuff more worthless than that.

And especially when he had the credibility of Banksy backing him up, people were sure to show up.

@AnnaMolly1024 I just think Banksy is so anti-establishment that he would make a fake documentary, pass it off as real, get all these rich industry people to praise it, have it nominated for an oscar, all the while knowing that it was bullshit. Seems like something he would do

@DerDeutschBag I personally believe this documentary is pretty legit. I mean it takes any average, talented street artist many many years to get even "local" recognition. Big names like Banksy and Shepard Fairey, have literally worked they're way up throughout the years. No, but not this Thierry guy, he literally became an overnight celebrity back in 2008, like seriously, OUT OF NOWHERE. And I really doubt that Banksy would go to this extent to prove a point about corrupted street artists.

Ok so based on this video response for LTA i joined the movie club and boy o boy did i choose a great film to start with. Very interesting and would be very easy to over analyse. overall i kinda like to think this is real but i do understand why people would say its fake and is in itself "art". Very interesting watch and has got me more interested in art and may even get myself some prints my house.
