The thing that makes it so creepy...is that is basically what they used in the movie....they didnt use any shitty CGI effects to try to make it more realistic because it was already freaky xD movies nowadays suck

man that shit is pretty fucking nasty looking! good job. my only complaint, or suggestion, is you should have had a recording of the "thing howl" during the kennel scene just to top it off! I mean that would have made me shit myself and run if i saw and heard that in person.

what the hell is that? that looks scary if I saw that I would have ran my ass off the boat
aw... that is completely awesome (and cute *no sarcasm cuz i'm into this kind of stuff) and you made that!?! I'd love to have that in my room <3

Thanks man. It was a throw together. They gave me creative freedom in an area of the USS Nightmare. I used:carpet padding layered over a chicken wire frame. Then I took a dirty old bed sheet and draped it over the of it.Then I used an 5 gal. bucket of Liquid Latex & coated the whole thing.(I did this outside in the back yard) Once the latex dried the fabric sticks to itself.I only sculpted, molded, and casted the head/puppets. Simple/generic cable pull that opened the many mouths of the creature

Awesome, I'll bet even Rick Baker and Stan Winston would be impressed. R.I.P. Stan.
btw. John Carpenter is the man.

Thanks man, That movie freaked me out as a kid. Seems I embraced the things that weirded me out as a kid. Oh no,
about Stan Winston !! I actually didn't know until you just told me. I've been out of the scene for a while. I've been more into
more mecha anime in recent years. That's so sad about him. Dead at 62. I read he was working on a new Terminator movie. What a bummer. He'd been one of the inspirations that shaped me. The best special on him was on Movie Magic:Discovery Channel in the 90's.

@Gorgo where did you get the cable equipment?
Django5198 5 months ago
@Django5198 ,It was simply bike hand brake cable. Not the actual type cable used in cable controlled creatures. I believe those are much thinner. I literally used a cable from an old 10 speed. I'm not sure if these companies are still around but search ( Burman in California ) and ( Monster Makers in Ohio ). They were big FX suppliers back when I was into FX stuff in the late 90's. I hope that helped.
