It's not a teleprompter. It's simply a set list showing, in order, the songs he's performing for that particular gig. He's had set lists taped to his piano for several years. So, yes, technically it's a "prompter" of sorts.

It is a teleprompter. It's the small monitor on the floor of the stage right next to the piano. The taped list on the piano you're referring to is unrelated.

It's always there. You've simply never noticed it before. Almost every musician has a teleprompter available when performing live, even if he/she doesn't use it.

After all these years still some of you people can only talk trash about EJ being gay, and if it's not that, it's bitching that he can't hit the high notes, and then bitching that he uses a teleprompter! Apparently some people are not aware that Elton John had emergency vocal chord surgery in 1986/87 which permanently changed his voice from tenor to baritone. Elton was fortunate enough to have his voice recover to the point where he could even sing again... he had to re-learn how to perform with his new voice. It would have killed the careers of many performers however Elton went on to create many new hits after that surgery. Personally, I'm glad his music is still alive.
