PLEASE COMMENT AND GIVE YOUR THOUGHTS,
Some good and bad points from a youtube user.
CD plus
+The equipment takes up less room.
+You can carry far more music.
+You can afford more music.
+If you've already got a CD collection, you can play it.
+Major labels have started releasing certain mixes of tunes on CD only.
+Most dance producers press up test CDs of their new tracks or work in progress (where in the past they would have made acetates).
+You can burn tunes straight from your computer to a CD, including homemade tracks and downloaded MP3's
CD minus.
-The controls on CD players can vary wildly. You may have mastered your own, but if a club uses a different model, you can have considerable problems.
-Not all venues have full CD mixing facilities.
-On all but the most expensive models you can't see what's going on (where the breakdowns are etc..), so you have to really know your tunes.
-You can't do many of the hiphop and scratch styles with CDs ( although new equipment exists to let you try).
-Independent and underground labels still favour vinyl-only releases, though increasingly you can also buy their tracks as downloads (and you can always record vinyl or downloads to CD).
-Once you're bitten by the DJ bug you'll probably want to get into vinyl as well.

  • Most basic and reliable: Vinyl

Easyer then vinyl, buy can break down if cd sucks: CD

Most flexible but again, if computer crashes your fucked: Computer

Vinyl has least chance to break down, though the one time a cd fails or computer crashes is minimal. So i think CD/computer and at the end computer will do the job.

    Cheers,

    Jeroen

  • i dont think it is any of the above i think the future of djing will be all in one controllers like the numark ns6 to be honest cdjs are overrated .

  • digital djing with computers is what will work most the best and most reliable however vinyl is still an art and will never die out. I personally have a macbook pro and S4 which is very compact light and easy to transport but it also depends on what type of dj you are. Anyone esle agree?

  • IMO timecoded vinyls are, what I would like to see, the future of djaying. Used with serato scratch live or traktor pro etc, they do just the things that cdj:s and dj controllers do. They are just more ''real'' and keep the feeling of real djing. And its easy to move to old school vinyl playing from timecoded vinyls :P

  • Im sorry to say this but pc is the future of djaying. I think its the future because so many people i starting to just push letters and numbers on their keyboard and call themselves DJ's. Also its the ease of obtaining software now that there's such things as torrents and youtube to mp3 converters it eliminates the need for spending a couple hundred quid and getting yourself 2 cdjs and a mixer and also eliminates the need for buying cds..

  • Pc is the future. Vinyl is original, but better. I would like it ,if one day, the fucking world wasnt dropped on their heads. and all the hot ass soccer moms would fucking burst vinyls hahah.

  • CD is the future.

  • all three will be kept alive; vinyl is the roots of all modern djing and has major support, however, cd's have become the mainstream amongst dj's in the last decade, but computer djing has picked up major speed in the last few years and has brought new things to the table.. everybody's got their own opinions, preferences and the gear to suit them, their genre and their technique so i think it's a three horse race for a long time to go
