Carolyn "Kelly" Harrell Adams
February 13, 1931 - January 22, 2012

Carolyn "Kelly" Harrell Adams born to Birdiemae Blount Harrell and Robert Lester Harrell on February 13, 1931 in Corpus Christi, Texas passed away January 22, 2012 at 5:31pm Kelly's family moved to San Antonio when she was 5 ½ years old. She graduated from Thomas Edison High School in San Antonio in 1947. She continued her education at A & I College in Kingsville where she graduated with a B. S. in Education in 1955. It was while she was attending A & I that she met and married her husband of over 55 years "Frog" Adams . She and "Frog" met while members of the Texas A & I Rodeo Team. Upon her graduation she pursued a career in education, teaching elementary students in Rossville, Poteet, Corpus Christi and Jourdanton. While actively teaching she continued her education and received a Master's Degree in 1977. Carolyn was a published author, who wrote a history book for children called "Stars Over Texas" and a book of plays for children titled "Try Me Teacher." She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Kelly was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Pleasanton, where she was a Sunday school teacher, lead bible studies at the Heights Nursing Home and did mission work with the Texas Baptist Retired Builders. She was also active in her community and participated in the Atascosa County Christmas Village and the Atascosa County Relay for Life fund raisers.




She is preceded in death by her loving husband Howard "Frog" Adams to whom she was married on September 12, 1949, and her son Daniel Edward "Dusty" Adams. She is survived by her daughter Wendy Gainan and husband Tim of Corpus Christi and her grandchildren Jennifer Graf and Inga Overstreet of Austin, Tegan Gainan of Lubbock, Terrance Gainan of Corpus Christi and Taylor Gainan of Lubbock as well as her daughter-in-law Nancy Adams of Corpus Christi, grandchildren Greg Adams of San Antonio, Jodi Adams and husband Jesus of Corpus Christi, Lindsay McMinn and husband Rick of Austin and great grandchildren Jessica, Jordan and Julia.




Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 West Oaklawn Road , Pleasanton from 2:00PM -- 8:00PM on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church ( Pleasanton ) at 10:00AM on Thursday, January 26, 2012. Interment will follow at the Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet , Texas . In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to Operation Christian Love, 4150 FM 2504, Poteet, Texas 78065.
